Aftercare

Diezliberty Body Piercing Aftercare
Important Guidelines

Do not touch your piercing unless you are cleaning it. Always wash your hands thoroughly before handling your piercing.
Avoid contact with other people’s hands, mouths, or bodily fluids while your piercing is healing.
The more you handle or play with a fresh piercing, the longer it will take to heal and the greater the risk of infection.
Do not remove your jewellery during the healing period unless instructed by a professional.
Avoid tanning oils, lotions, sand, or tight-fitting clothing that may irritate the piercing site.
Never soak a healing piercing in dirty or unclean water, such as pools, spas, lakes, or even baths.
Do not use alcohol, Neosporin, or any product not recommended in this aftercare guide, unless specifically directed by a doctor.

Cleaning Instructions

Wash your hands thoroughly before touching your piercing or jewellery.
Never touch or twist your jewellery unnecessarily.
Clean your piercing 2–3 times daily using a sterile saline solution.
(We have saline solution available for purchase if needed.)
After cleaning, gently pat the area dry with a clean, disposable paper towel. Avoid cloth towels as they can harbor bacteria.

 PIERCING DOWNSIZING IMPORTANT INFORMATION

After getting a new piercing, downsizing your jewellery is a crucial part of the healing process.

What is Downsizing?

Downsizing means replacing your initial longer jewellery (typically a barbell or labret) with a shorter post once the initial swelling has gone down, usually 6-8 weeks after the piercing.

 Why is it Important?
Prevents excess movement of the jewellery
Reduces risk of snagging or catching
Minimises chances of irritation, scarring, or migration
Helps your piercing heal cleaner and faster
Wearing long jewellery for too long can cause:
Angle shifting
Bumps or keloids
Even rejection in some cases

 When Should I Downsize?

We recommend coming back for a downsizing appointment within 4–8 weeks of your piercing date.
Downsizing is a normal and expected part of a healthy piercing journey.
It’s about your piercing’s long-term health.
