The Hard Part

If you recently got a piercing and are delighted with it, now comes the challenging part of caring for it and properly healing it.

Your body may seem wonderful, but once your piercing is in place, it's going to either heal it or be rejected, so take a few easy steps to help it.

Listen To Your Piercer

As piercers are professionals in this field, they will tell you that the key to properly healing your piercing is to listen to your piercer. If you have any questions, visit your piercer, and if you trusted them to pierce you, trust them with any advice they give. Most likely, people who don't follow the aftercare instructions have problems with their piercing.

The Effective Solution

All you need to make an effective solution is sea salt and fresh water that has been boiled and cooled down.

When cleaning your piercing, avoid touching it with unclean hands. Instead, be gentle and try using a cotton bud.

  • How To Clean Your Piercing

Clean your piercing three times a day with salt water or antiseptic mouthwash. In the case of a tongue or lip piercing, your piercer may recommend a particular kind of solution, but in most cases, salt water will do.

  • Dont Over clean Your Piercing

Three times a day should be plenty to clean your piercing; any more than that may dry out the skin and increase the risk of infection. If there is no infection present, limit using antiseptics. However if you do, your body may mistakenly believe the piercing itself is the infection and begin to reject it. Once this happens, it is impossible to stop, so be careful when using cleaning products.

  • Dont Mess With Your Piercing

Avoid touching your piercing and especially resist twisting or pushing it around. Because the portion of the piercing within your body is clean. If you do you run the danger of putting dirt into the healing piercing, which could cause an infection. Just make an effort to let it heal on its own.
